Mykonos – Travel Inspiration

What a whirlwind spring and summer it’s been of planning travel and traveling myself! I’m playing catch up over these next few weeks here at HUTTONB.com by refreshing and publishing a few more Travel Inspiration guides starting with Mykonos.

In addition to Santorini, Mykonos is the most visited island in the Cyclades and for a good reason. Well connected to the other islands by ferry, plane and helicopter, Mykonos is home to a bustling pedestrian-friendly town, beach clubs for all tastes and countless renowned bars, restaurants and local high-end boutiques.

Stay at | Santa Marina, Bill & Coo, Branco Mykonos or Myconian Ambassador
Cruise | around the “Cycladic Sisters” of Mykonos and the neighboring islands of Rhenia and Delos on a private catamaran to escape the beach crowds H|B tidbit: The island of Delos is the mythical birthplace of Apollo and Artemis and on shore private tours can be arranged to discover the ancient ruins
Shop| til you drop on Matogianni and Kalogera, charming shopping streets in Chora filled with internationally renowned brands and high end local boutiques and art galleries H|B tip: Also walk up towards the Belvedere Hotel to shop the less crowded boutique-lined street of Panachantrou
Book | a cabana and a table for lunch at Principote Panormos, a newer beach club with a sexy, sophisticated vibe H|B tidbit: While many beaches on the island can be windy, rocky, have deep waters or all of the above, the secluded Panormos beach has soft sand, shallow clear water and beautiful views
Stick | with a traditional outpost and dine under trellises of bougainvillea at Avra Restaurant in Chora H|B tip: Into more trendy, modern spots? Try Kalita next door instead
Combine with | a trip to Santorini, Paros, other Cycladic Islands or western Turkey
