Traveler Spotlight | The Hungry Chronicles – Ane Lowe

It’s no secret there are a lot of travel writers and wanderers out there. So, as a new series, I’ll be helping you sift through the noise by featuring 10 question spotlights on several totally follow-worthy travelers.
First up | 10 Questions with The Hungry Chronicles – Ane Lowe

1| Tell us about yourself I’m an Austin-based travel advisor and founder of a food and travel blog called The Hungry Chronicles.  I was born in Mexico City and grew up in Texas, and have both Cuban and Basque roots.  Because of my diverse cultural background, I was exposed to travel at a very young age. I love traveling to new cities and countries, and feel one of the best ways to really experience a new place is through the food
2| Your travel style in 3 words | Comfortable, functional, and bohochic
3| Top luxury destination | Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris

4| Carry on item you can’t live without | Noise cancelling headphones!
5| Beloved off the beaten path destination | Iceland…it’s a dream for any outdoorsy type/adventure traveler, and you can see much of the country in one week. You can explore on your own, or with a guide or in a group. Some of the big draws are the flickering northern lights, cascading waterfalls, and thermal waters like the Blue Lagoon
6| Most adored museum | Tie between Museu Picasso and Fundació Joan Miró, both in Barcelona

Fundació Joan Miró

7| Favorite moment you’ve captured with a photograph | I love this picture, it was taken on top of the Arc de Triomphe while Andrew and I spent a week in Paris for our honeymoon.  I had never been to Paris before and had all these expectations about the experience and the city, and rarely are my expectations exceeded when you’ve built this thing up in your head for so many years.  Andrew let me plan out everything I wanted to do, so our itinerary was jam-packed every day, and he was game for everything.  I had such an incredible experience with him in this magical city, and I think this picture does a great job of capturing the beauty and magic of Paris

8| Best book you’ve read while traveling | The Count of Monte Cristo
9| Go-to online travel tool When researching restaurants I want to check out when travelling, I’ll create a gallery on Instagram by saving food pictures that I save to that gallery by doing a location search, and I also use Conde Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure as great resources.  One of my favorite travel blogs/social media accounts is @doyoutravel, @dametraveler, and @dametravelerfoodie
10| Most unusually delicious dish you’ve tried This is a tough one–if I try to think about an impressive and unusual dish I’ve tried I have to mention a burrata “bubble” that I had at Zero George Restaurant in Charleston.  It was burrata cheese made into a large nitrogen filled bubble, and when you popped it, it slowly let the air out and you were left with the burrata skin. It sounds weird, but it was really innovative and really yummy!
